Your nonprofit has so many stories to tell, and your audience craves content.
But you don’t have the internal bandwidth or resources to devote to brand storytelling and thought leadership in a consistent, strategic way — especially not when you’re “drinking from the firehose” of daily marketing communications demands.
Three Story Strategies works with nonprofit marketing communications teams to take the pain out of impact communications, from case studies and annual reports to story banks and patient education efforts.
Ready to finally bring your storytelling and strategic communications projects off the back burner — and into the world? Let’s tell that story together!
ANNA SCHARDT BAKER, PRESIDENT
Hi, I’m Anna (“ahh-nah”).
While I always have a magazine or Kindle in hand, my love of words extends well beyond prolific reading and writing. As a communicator and storyteller I have long been fascinated by how information is organized, presented and consumed. I’m also a “nonprofit girl” at heart, one who feels most at home when working for a great cause.
After I earned my B.A. in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University (ask me about the great city of Pittsburgh!), I enjoyed a four-year stint in educational publishing before transitioning to the faster-paced world of nonprofit marketing communications. Over the next 15-plus years I held a progressive series of leadership roles that focused on digital engagement, strategic communications and storytelling.
In summer 2017 I took a big, deep breath and leaped into independent consulting. I founded Three Story Strategies to help nonprofits and mission-minded companies harness the power of storytelling to elevate their brand messaging, thought leadership and patient engagement. Today I serve a variety of clients in the public health, health care and social services spaces. Much of my work centers around health equity, from advocating for affordable insulin to defending the Affordable Care Act to capturing culturally relevant ways to overcome health disparities in underserved communities.
I live in Arlington, Va., with my darling husband, three energetic children and two overly affectionate cats — all of whom are known to make occasional Zoom appearances. In my not-so-ample spare time, you’ll find me trying new recipes in the kitchen, leading a Girl Scouts troop, hitting my local Orangetheory studio or planning the neighborhood’s next block party.
I may call the D.C. region home, but the best part about my work is that it can take me anywhere. It is an honor to serve every client, every patient, every reader.
